نائب وزير المالية يشارك في الاجتماعات السنوية لمجلس محافظي البنك الآسيوي للاستثمار في البنية التحتية
شارك معالي نائب وزير المالية الأستاذ عبدالمحسن بن سعد الخلف في الاجتماعات السنوية لمجلس محافظي البنك الآسيوي للاستثمار في البنية التحتية، والذي عقد يومي الأربعاء والخميس 22-23 ربيع الأول 1446هـ الموافق 25-26 سبتمبر 2024م، في مدينة سمرقند بجمهورية أوزباكستان.
وخلال مشاركته، أشاد معالي الخلف بالتقدم الذي أحرزه البنك الآسيوي للاستثمار في البنية التحتية، مشيراً إلى اقترابه من تحقيق مستهدفاته الإستراتيجية، وتجاوزه أهدافه التمويلية؛ مما يعكس التزامه بتمويل البنية التحتية المستدامة في الدول الأعضاء.
وحث معاليه البنك الآسيوي على تكثيف جهوده في استخدام التقنيات المتقدمة التي تدعم نهج الاقتصاد الدائري للكربون والاستثمار فيها، بما في ذلك تقنيات احتجاز الكربون واستخدامه وتخزينه، مؤكداً دعم المملكة للاقتصاد الدائري للكربون من خلال مبادراتها المختلفة مثل مبادرتي السعودية الخضراء والشرق الأوسط الأخضر.
كما أشار الخلف إلى ضرورة تكثيف الجهود لتنفيذ المشاريع التي تلبي الاحتياجات الأساسية للإنسان، مثل مشاريع المياه والأمن الغذائي، وقال: “مع تزايد الطلب العالمي على الموارد، تصبح هذه المشاريع أساسية لضمان الأمن والاستقرار الاجتماعي والاقتصادي. كما أن الاستثمار في هذه القطاعات يعزز من قدرة المجتمعات على مواجهة التحديات المرتبطة بالتغيرات المناخية والنمو السكاني”.
والتقى معالي النائب على هامش الاجتماعات بعدد من وزراء المالية ومسؤولي الحكومات في الدول الأعضاء للبنك، لبحث سبل التعاون والشراكة في الجانبين الاقتصادي والمالي.
وشهد الاجتماع إقرار التقرير السنوي للبنك للعام 2023م، والموافقة على انضمام جمهورية ناورو لمجلس محافظي البنك الآسيوي للاستثمار في البنية التحتية، كما تعد المملكة عضواً مؤسساً في البنك الذي أنشئ في العاصمة الصينية بكين في العام 2016م كمؤسسة تمويل إنمائية متعددة الأطراف.
His Excellency Saudi Vice Minister of Finance Participates in AIIB Annual Meetings in Uzbekistan

His Excellency the Saudi Vice Minister of Finance, Mr. Abdulmuhsen Alkhalaf, participated in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Annual Meetings held 25-26 September 2024 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
In his remarks, the Vice Minister praised AIIB progress, noting that it has made significant strides toward achieving its strategic objectives and exceeded its targets in terms of financing volume, which demonstrates its commitment to financing sustainable infrastructure in member nations.
In addition, Vice Minister urged AIIB to scale-up its efforts in utilizing and investing in technologies that support the Circular Carbon Economy approach, including technologies related to Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS). He noted that Saudi Arabia has been a strong advocate for the Circular Carbon Economy, promoting this concept through initiatives such as the Saudi and Middle East Green Initiatives.
He noted that it is essential to intensify efforts to implement projects that meet basic human needs, such as water and food security projects. He also said, “With the growing global demand for resources, these projects are crucial to ensuring social and economic stability. Moreover, investing in these sectors enhances communities’ ability to face challenges related to climate change and population growth”.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the Vice Minister met with several finance ministers and government officials in member nations to discuss ways of cooperating and partnering in the economic and financial fields.
The governors approved the AIIB Annual Report for 2023, as well as the addition of the Republic of Nauru to the AIIB Board of Governors. In addition, Saudi Arabia is a founding member of the AIIB, which was established in the Chinese capital, Beijing, in 2016 as a multilateral development finance institution
