Dr. Al-Issa receives a high-ranking delegation from the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt

Launching an international conference on Media Responsibility

H.E the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Issa, received H.E. the chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt, Mr. Karam Jabr accompanied by a high-ranking delegation comprising the Egyptian Media leadership in the press and Satellite Channels domains.

 

The meeting touched on several intellectual and media issues of mutual interest in the Islamic and international arenas. For his part, H.E. the MWL’s Secretary-General lauded the important role played by the media in disseminating the truth and raising awareness with complete objectivity, neutrality, and professionalism, which represent the moral values of responsibility.

 

Dr. Al-Issa discussed further the issue of freedom in the media domain affirming its importance as a value as long as it is within a legitimate framework. He added that the Arab and Islamic media played a significant role in developing the media responsibility as it has a rich record of achievements. Yet ambitiously speaking, Dr. Al-Issa said that the media should have more contributions expressing his happiness with the fair competition in the media field, especially since each media platform has its own distinguishing characteristics in the Arab and Islamic world.

 

Dr. Al-Issa explained that the Muslim World League, as an international non-governmental organization concerned with Islamic nations, has launched several initiatives and programs all over the world within the framework of its stated objectives that focus on highlighting the true image of Islam, confronting extreme and terrorist ideas and hate and racist speech, boosting the role of Islam in the domain of dialogue among civilizations, and building bridges of understanding and cooperation among the followers of the different religions and cultures.

 

H.E Dr. Al-Issa explained further that the MWL does not talk policy nor interfere in any political issue unless it constitutes part of its objectives and message that seek to establish peace and security in the world out of the values of the great religion of Islam that was revealed as a mercy to the whole world.

Dr. Al-Issa announced the MWL’s intention to hold an international conference on Media Responsibility with the participation of the most significant Muslim and non-Muslim media figures and institutions in the world.

For its part, the Egyptian delegation lauded the efforts exerted by the WML in general and its intention to hold an international conference on media.
